CHARITIES

Blood Cancer UK is a community dedicated to beating blood cancer by funding research and supporting those affected. Since 1960, Blood Cancer UK has invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. Right now, the Blood Cancer UK community is funding 360 researchers and staff across the UK who are searching for the next breakthrough. The day they will beat blood cancer is now in sight and Blood Cancer UK researchers are determined to finish the job.

As well as looking for a cure in the future, Blood Cancer UK is there for people when they need someone to talk to. Whether on the phone or online, Blood Cancer UK offers health information people can trust, in a language they can understand.

Blood Cancer UK also campaigns for change, helping to make sure that people get the healthcare they deserve and that new treatments that come from research breakthroughs are available on the NHS.

Motor neurone disease (MND) is a fatal, rapidly progressing neurological condition which causes messages from nerves (motor neurones) in the brain and spinal cord that control movement to gradually stop reaching the muscles, leading them to weaken, stiffen and waste. The result is that people become locked in a failing body, unable to move, talk and eventually breathe. It kills a third of people within a year and more than half within two years of diagnosis. Sadly there is currently no cure.

The MND Association is the only national charity in England, Wales and Northern Ireland focused on improving care, funding and promoting research, and campaigning so the needs of people with MND are recognised and addressed by wider society. With over 9,000 members the charity provides a comprehensive range of information and support for people with MND, their families and carers.
